During my self-discovery as an artist, there were many times when I felt I could not spend time exploring, finding ways to immerse myself in conceptualization and creativity. Artist’s block as I like to call it. I have taken art classes to get inspired and at other times I would find inspiration in observing the world around me. Isn’t this the excitement of an experience? The travel to the culmination is a joy in itself.

- This mixed-media work reflects growth, movement, and interconnectedness. Delicate, patterned leaves form an organic, flowing structure that seems to emerge and expand within a textured, atmospheric background. The swirling lines suggest unseen currents—of thought, breath, or energy—carrying the form forward. Rooted yet dynamic, the piece evokes the quiet resilience of growth and the beauty of evolving through change.

- This mixed-media piece explores the tension between fragility and wholeness. A fragment of patterned fabric, marked with gold fissures, suggests breakage that has been honored rather than hidden. Set against a meditative, circular field, the form evokes both containment and continuity—like a vessel that holds memory, repair, and resilience. The work reflects a moment of pause, where imperfection becomes a site of quiet strength and integration.

- This mixed-media work brings together torn fabric, stitch, and painted surface to create a tactile and layered composition. The fragility of the fabric required a careful, attentive process, where each piece was placed with intention, allowing imperfections and frayed edges to remain visible as part of the narrative. At the center, two birds face one another, rendered in patterned fabric that echoes textile traditions. They rest against a structured yet soft ground, bordered by hand-like stitched lines that suggest both containment and connection. The vertical bands of fabric below them introduce a sense of grounding, almost like roots or pathways, anchoring the moment. The birds themselves hold a quiet dialogue—they capture a fleeting interaction, a pause in time that feels intimate and contemplative. Surrounding elements, including the circular fabric motif and fragments of map imagery, subtly evoke ideas of place, journey, and memory. Through the challenges of working with delicate material, the process became as meaningful as the outcome, resulting in a piece that feels both resolved and alive with texture, history, and presence.

- The 3rd in the series is growth represented with yellow and green, the colors of plants and vegetation. This energy is important for things to grow.
-
- Representing water and cool energy. I have depicted this with droplets and waves of water. I hope to capture the feeling of coolness in this painting.

- I love Indian hand woven saris. The intricate gold and thread work reminds me of the dedication of each of these weavers. I have used the image of the peacock to depict the beauty of Indian fabric. This piece of fabric is from my mother’s Banaras wedding sari.
-
- This painting was a departure from my usual theme. A young girl with jewelry and dressed beautifully seems to be frozen in time. The viewer is drawn to wonder what she could be looking at. I used an old Indian sari in a 3-dimensional manner.

- Aspiring to be free and to enjoy the thrill of painting again. This is a simple picture that shows space, time, and movement.
-
- This is a more abstract rendering of an image from my childhood. I remember how the cows would come to our door step and seem to curiously look in. The 3 cows represents 3 friends. The bells are rendered in the Tanjore technique with gold relief work.

- I simply wanted to draw a person in the rain with an umbrella. This scene presented itself to me as I began and it took shape and I began to break up the image into multiple boxes. She’s boxed into waiting. What could she be waiting for? Or is the wait over and she is simply enjoying some respite.

- I enjoyed this composition, representing the various seasons. This painting reflects the change in feelings and my energy level at the time.
